Today is opening day of the esteemed golf tournament, The Memorial, designed and hosted by the great Jack Nicklaus.

There is always something about this tournament that is special. I think it is just the great presence of Jack and his amazing legacy that permeates this tournament. Sometimes it’s hard to believe, now that Jack is getting older, of all the amazing shots and golf heroics that have rippled through him.

And it’s fun having the latest superstars interact with him. Of course, with Tiger (as usual) it’s a bit different. He is a modern day legend and the heir to Jack’s golf throne.

But when they get together there is a different kind of connection. Maybe only one that champions of their caliber can understand. I guess maybe that’s it.

They have a kind of “understanding” that only great champions are privy to. Two legends. Two different generations. Two gentleman. The “Tiger” and the “Bear”. Good stuff.

Anyway you slice it (no pun intended) it is fun to watch them interact as they have in the days leading up to the 2009 Memorial Tournament tee off.

It’s a great tournament to watch and it’s super cool when Jack hits the announcers booth to give his commentary so make sure your chores are done so you can tune in!
