Check Out These “Extreme” Golf Adventures

In my mind anyway, I typically think of a golf adventure as a journey to somewhere famous like Pebble Beach in California, Royal Troon in Scotland or Ballybunion in Ireland.
However, there is another type of golf that is becoming quite popular among the club-carrying crowd and might best be labeled under the category called “extreme.”
I happened to become aware of this through an article I read by Ross Marshall who is the Managing Director of Golf Holiday company.
It is really a fascinating article that features 6 “extreme” golf adventures. I will just list one below so you get the idea:
$1million par three, Legend Golf And Safari Resort, South Africa
The 18-hole course at the Legend Golf And Safari Resort in South Africa is unique in itself, with each hole individually designed by a famous professional player. But it is at the Extreme 19th Hole where the action really hots up. The bonus hole’s tee is perched on the monumental Hanglip Mountain and the green is a hefty 830m away. However, with a vertical drop of 430m, it is a reachable par three. Accessible only by helicopter, the hole is extraordinary: make a hole in one and you will receive a cool $1million.

I wish I could agree with you MJ that Monterey is the best golf in the world – however, I have never played there!
It’s just sounds spectacular.
How many days were you there and what and how many courses did you play?
Did you book through a golf travel site or do it on your own?
Thanks for the comment.

What is the #1 golf region in the country?
My vote is for the Monterey Peninsula hands down, it offers the most spectacular golfing I have ever experienced and i have played all over the world. I was pinching myself the whole time i was there just to making sure I was not dreaming. Monterey offers the best natural golf courses in the world! I just got back from another retreat to the Monterey Peninsula and must say it was the best golf vacation i have ever had!
