Scottish Links Golf Not For Everyone

14th Fairway Cruden Bay
Scottish links golf, the way we did it, is not for everyone. If you’re looking for the resort destination experience, then you’re limited to the Scottish resorts like Turnberry or Gleneagles.
The typical Scottish course is a no frills operation, just like most Scots. You park your own car, carry your own bag to the pro shop as well as lugging it around the course. When you finish no one is going to be waiting to wipe down your gear, even if you’re a member.
Scottish golf, is just golf – you and the course and the weather. The wind blows you backwards and forwards, you feel the weight of your trolley as you trudge uphill into a 30 mph blow. You can smell the peat and the incoming tide.
If you want massages, boutique shopping, hot tubs and gourmet cuisine, you’d better look at another destination. However, if walking every yard from tee to green and sharing a pint with your windblown golfing partners is your thing, then going to Scotland and crafting your own golf tour should be at the top of your list of things to do.

Dora, because you asked there will be more pictures! In case you didn’t notice, that’s ML walking up the 14th.
I had no need to ask who was walking down the course…I’d recognize the back of that bag anywhere! Would LOVE to see more photos – as I was here in RI green with envy while you were over there. Incidentally, it mostly POURED rain the whole time you were gone.

Wow! How beautiful! I’d go just to walk the course! Got any more pics?
Glad you’re back! How was the haggis?
