A million golfers a year from China? good for them and the Scots, but does that mean I won't feel like I'm playing at private courses when I make my next trip? Andy is right and it's not hype or hyperbole, it doesn't get any better than the kind of trip my wife and I made to Scotland.

Hey Andy, Where were you? My wife, who reads your newsletters religiously, thought she'd see you when we stopped by St. Andrews. I tried to tell her you wouldn't necessarily be sitting on the 1st tee, but she wouldn't have it. You should have seen the look on the caddy master's face when she asked if he knew you. Sorry we missed you!!

Hey Andy!

Thank you for stopping by the GolfDash blog and posting.

That is pretty interesting about allowing Chinese golfers access to Scottish courses!

BTW, love your "Tweets" - always good stuff.

Cheers,

Doug

I think Scotland is the place to be without a doubt, but then I am bias! Why wouldn’t anyone want to experience such a wonderful place where this beautiful game originated so many centuries ago. Playing the links is the real charm of the game and everyone must get to experience it.

Recently, in a bid to give its tourism industry a big boost, a Scottish golf institution set up shop in China allowing Chinese golfers access to a number of Scottish golf courses. After shelling out an annual membership fee, a Chinese golfer can not only play on most of the historic courses but also has the option of availing priority tee times and tie-up with a travel agency to get the best deal out of the holiday. They are already talking about a million golfers from China playing each year in Scotland. While that figure might be a touch ambitious, one thing is for sure that they will get substantial business from the land of the orient

Not surprisingly, those who look East often tend to turn their heads towards India after they reap the fruits sown in China. Plans are afoot to roll out a similar model in India and it might be just the perfect holiday to whet the appetite of the adventurous Indian tourist.
