Ping G10 Hybrid Does It All
Hybrids are the clubs to have these days. Or more accurately, they are the ‘must have’ clubs. I don’t even care if you’re a scratch golfer, hybrids will make you better. Remember when ‘metal’ woods first came out. We hemmed and hawed, but show me a golfer who doesn’t use them now and I’ll show you someone who has been living on a desert island for the past 40 years. The higher your handicap, the more hybrids you need.
Clubs are personal, they have to look right and fit your eye. They must give you confidence. Well, I certainly found my confidence producing club – the Ping G10 hybrid. I’m starting to daydream about playing rounds with only Ping hybrids, a wedge and a putter. So far I only have one, the 21 degree. It replaces my 3 iron which I haven’t had in the bag for a year. I wasn’t using it so why lug it around. But I had a big hole between my 4 iron and the first hybrid I bought – a 19 degree Hogan.
I looked at the Bobby Jones by Jesse Ortiz. I’ve hit the club and loved it, but it just didn’t give me the ‘I can hit any shot with this club’ that the Ping did. I feel I can hit the Ping 100 yards, or 150 or 200. I can hit it low or high. I can move it left or right. And last week I hit a nice 180 yarder out of a trap and onto the green. No other club in the bag could have done that for me. What’s not to love! And miss hits are almost as good as center strikes. They go nearly straight and I’d estimate 80% as far.
I have to admit that there’s no other club in my bag that I’m as confident with as the Ping. I have my ups and downs with the other clubs. Sometimes I can’t miss but then things go downhill. With the Ping I feel I’ll always get a decent shot, even if it’s a tight shot with something on the line. Do yourself a favor and demo this club if you don’t already own one. You’ll play better…a lot better. Here’s another review Doug found on epinions. Apparently this guy loves his as much as I love mine.
