Masters TV Coverage Is Broken!

I guess this should be addressed to Billy Payne, the current chairman of Augusta National.
Billy, I know how much you and the rest of the Augusta National members care about your course and the Masters tournament.
I haven’t agreed with everything you’ve done over the years, but I do know that you’ve always wanted the best for this competition and the game of golf. That’s why it’s a shame that live TV coverage for this great tournament starts at 4 pm on Thursday and Friday. That means we get to see about 1/4 of the play. Think about that, 1/4 of the play for one of the four most important golf tournaments of the year.
And I’m sure that you, Billy, would rate it the best tournament. If a tournament is judged by coverage then the British Open is the best and most important, at least for the BBC. There you can watch live coverage of the entire event. Thursday and Friday are so important to the ‘majors’. They set the tone, build drama and write the storyline for the entire tournament.
You could argue that the Masters has the best and most notable field in golf. It’s a wonderful blend of past winners, young amateurs, international stars and the best golfers in the world. If you’re a pro, it’s be there or be square! So why do we get only the last nine holes of the afternoon pairings on Thursday and Friday – and a Good Friday to boot? Golf is in some serious need of promotion these days and 4 minute recaps of Tiger and Chad’s rounds doesn’t generate that. You need to watch it as it unfolds.
Billy, please call Tim Finchem and bring him on board to address this appalling spectacle. It doesn’t do you, Augusta National, the Masters, professional golfers or the game justice. If you are true keepers of Bobby Jones torch you’ll make things right.
Thanks for listening.
Regards,

Yea, I don’t think we will have any coverage before 4 in the evening for any of the rounds. A total disgrace!
Justin, I couldn’t agree more. I can see this happening at other tournaments, but how to the ruling lords of Augusta National allow this to happen. Aren’t these the same guys who won’t let the commentators call the rough, the rough?
Stan, I felt sorry for The Golf Channel. They were trying to cover the event, but were forced to show everything EXCEPT play on the course. That’s too bad because the cameras were there ready to go.

I agree about the poor coverage. I have been looking for 3rd and 4th round TV coverage on comcast cable and I can’t find coverage before 4 PM eastern time. If this is all they have they should hang their heads in shame.
