Gorse & Heather, Scottish Golf Hazards
If you are fortunate enough to play golf in Scotland, you’ll become intimate with heather and gorse, hazards awaiting on most every hole of a links course. You don’t want to end up in either. You’ll be lucky to find your ball and it will be almost impossible to play it. Here’s a picture of some gorse. One look tells you that you’re in serious trouble:

Now for the heather. Maybe a little less intimidating, but no less penal. You have to admit that it’s beautiful:
