End of David Duval’s Pro Career?

davidduval End of David Duvals Pro Career? If you’ve read this blog and its predecessors over the years, then you know I’m a David Duval fan and a close follower of his attempt to once again be competitive on the PGA Pro Tour.

Unfortunately, I think time has run out for David’s comeback. He’s had some OK showings over the last year and a half, but how long can a guy making a comeback play at this level. Every year he gets older it makes the climb back that much steeper.

If David was 28 it would be a different story, but he’s 37 already. I don’t think his problem is his game anymore. It’s got to be the desire to win and all that it takes in this day and age on the Pro Tour. There are just too many youngsters playing at a high level to leave room for an old dog to squeeze his way in.

David appears to have found peace and happiness in his personal life after many years of inner turmoil. I’m sure this is much more valuable than winning another tournament.

David has a family now and all the responsibilities that go with it. Working 8 or more hours a day to hone his game and then being away from his family for long stretches is probably not in the cards.

He was, and is, a tremendous golf talent. His challenge now is not to get back to being one of the best golfers in the world, but to figure out how he can make a contribution to the game in other ways. Maybe I’m wrong about Mr. Duval.

I’d be as happy as anyone to see his name atop the leaderboard once again, but it’s not likely. I just hope he finds some way to continue making a positive impact on the game that has served him well. That would be the mark of a true champion.

I’m with you on this. Last year’s surge at the British Open and that not panning out made me think he hasn’t got the zingbangpop to do it at this level any more. I think it is all up in his head now. He just isn’t that hungry. If he has the financial ducks in a row, it would be tough to make that kind of effort for something that may not be his cup of tea.

[...] then again he also depicted his demise in, The End of David Duval’s Pro Career. So what do you think now, [...]
