Could It Be That Tiger Smells Blood In The Water

TigerWoodsblood Could It Be That Tiger Smells Blood In The Water I’m no orthopedic surgeon, but having had ACL surgery myself, I thought we wouldn’t see Tiger until at least the US Open.

So why is he coming back February 25 for the Match Play Championship?

First of all, it’s a nice venue. You’re only playing one golfer at a time. After winning the US Open on one leg, a Tiger Woods on one and half legs will strike fear into the heart of the most fearless tour professional.

And who really knows when it comes to Tiger, he could even be stronger than a couple of years ago. Now that’s scary. And if he loses early, who’s going to blame him. We’ll all be amazed that he’s even playing competitive golf at this stage. Don’t forget that Ernie Els has never returned to pre-ACL surgery form.

I have a hunch that Tiger’s way out in front on this one. There’s no way he would start playing competitive golf if he wasn’t confident he could win. It’s just not his style. I think Tiger sees the lack of any strong players emerging this year and figures if he gets his competitive game going by the end of February he has an excellent shot at winning the Masters five weeks later. And then why no go on to win a couple of more majors and be within a knat’s eyelash of Jack’s record.

Only time will tell. But I wouldn’t want to bet against the guy that’s head and shoulders above everyone else at the moment.
