I have just a few quick impressions on Quail Hollow as I'm still unpacking from our Scotland trip.
When is the last time you saw Tiger Woods open a tournament at 7 under after the first round and then go only 2 under over the next 3 rounds? When is the last time he started the last round within a couple of shots of the leader and never made up a single stroke? Tiger is still the best, it just goes to show how difficult it is to return to competitive golf after a long layoff. Think back and it's hard to find a golfer who has ever come back to pre-layoff ...
Well, that's a wrap for my GolfDash partner's Scottish golf trip of a lifetime. I cannot wait to hear all the stories about all the wonderful courses he has played and experienced (and that we have highlighted that past week or so here on the GolfDash Blog)
I am going to twist John's arm to get him to write a "Top 10 Things to Know About Taking a Scottish Golf Trip" (or something like it) - It is certainly one that I would read as the same type of trip is in my future plans.

John is off to Monifieth today!
“I have been the golf pro here at Monifieth for over 40 years. You would think that I would get bored with playing the same course for that length of time. The beauty of Links course and almost uniquely East Of Scotland Links courses is that they vary so much due to the constantly changing strengths and directions of the wind. I have seen conditions which turned a drive and wedge par 4 into an unreachable 2 shotter in the same day.”

Today (two courses in one day!) John Is playing Royal Dornoch - one of the crown jewels of Scottish golf!
“Records show that the incredible natural landscape that defines golf in Dornoch has hosted golfers since 1616… The responsibility for actually designing our Championship course fell to the legendary Old Tom Morris who used the unique links-land features to create a magical golfing experience – one that prompted Tom Watson, five times Open Champion, to say ‘it’s the most fun I’ve ever had on a golf course’!”

John is off playing Montrose today. See more info on the club below.
“The Medal Course at Montrose is a majestic layout in the true traditions of Scottish Links golf and has hosted many important events in its history including the Scottish Professional Championship in 1967 and 1970, the Scottish Amateur Championship in 1975 and the British Boys' Championship and Internationals in 1991. Because of all these factors the Links was honoured by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club in being chosen as a Final Qualifying Course for the Open Championship at Carnoustie in 1999 and again in 2007.”

“The Old Course provides a golfing challenge to golfers of all standards, and the prevailing weather conditions add to the degree of difficulty. Once you have negotiated the “valley holes” and battled home, I would invite you to regale the events of the day whilst partaking in a small libation in the bar.”

John's big Scottish golf adventure continues. Where is he playing today? Playing at one of the best in Scotland - Nairn.
If the rankings were judged on the quality of the greens then Nairn would feel hard done by not to be in the top 10. As it is, a move upwards of six places reflects the panel's feeling that this was a course that deserved greater recognition. It is the opening stretch of holes, along the coastline, that live longest in the memory"
“What delights the visitor and member alike is the Scottish-ness of the links. Other than in a strong westerly, it leads you in gently before demanding accurate driving and ...
