Better Golf With TiVo

tivogolf Better Golf With TiVoThis brainstorm occurred to me during last week’s Dubai Desert Classic. For those of you that are more out front on electronics than I am, you’re probably already doing this. You don’t have to own a TiVo, any DVR will do.

I saw some great footage of Rory McIlroy hitting an iron in slow motion on Sunday. (This kid, I say that because he’s only 19, is a terrific young talent if you haven’t noticed yet). I wanted my wife to see it so I pressed record on the TiVo. When she was available we watched it over and over in even slower slow motion. Boy was that educational.

With that we started to scan the broadcast looking for all sorts of swings that we could study. It’s instructional and entertaining (check out Kenny Perry sometime) to see the best in the world go about their business. Of course, besides watching full swings you can hone in on chip shots, bunker shots, putting and any other part of the game that interests you.

If you haven’t watched the European tour this year, check it out. Tomorrow I’m writing a piece on why I think it’s better than the US Tour right now. If you live in the northern half of the country and are watching yet another snowstorm today, you’re probably like me and praying real hard for Spring about now. Please, just let me see grass again so I know it’s still there!
